Construction. The sprayer shall be made of aluminum or steel, which is is pesticide corrosion resistant, and mounted on a rectangular frame. The overall dimensions shall be no less than 2.5 feet wide, 4 feet long, and 4 feet high. A ULV nozzle and a blower fan shall be mounted inside a cylindrical drum no less than 2 feet in diameter and 3.5 feet long. The drum shall be capable of adjustment, from a horizonal position to a 30 degree tilt. The nozzle and a blower fan shall be mounted internally in the drum. The frame shall have two straight bicycle-type handles with hand grips, two 20 inch bicycle type wheels, a 6 inch front center swivel wheel, mounting brackets for the compressor and motor, insecticide pump electric timers, and insecticide tank. There shall be two 24-hour electric timers (one for the fan motor and one for the compressor) and a stop/start motor control. The pump shall be a reciprocating piston metering type and must be capable of accurately dispersing 1-4 ounces/minute of insecticide with an accuracy of + 5 percent. The insecticide tank capacity shall be at least one gallon.
Preformance. The sprayer must be capable of an adequate overnight treatment of a warehouse that has at least 500,000 cubic feet with a ULV formulation of insecticide.
Weight. The sprayer shall weigh no more than 200 pounds
Conformance. The sprayer shall conform to the requirements of
Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Inc., Standard 1559.
Workmanship. The sprayer shall be free from burrs and sharp edges or projections or other defects which detract from its appearance, impair its performance or serviceability, and which may create an electrical or safety hazard.
arranty. The sprayer shall have as a minimum requirement, a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty; covering all of the sprayer’s parts.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and except for those government unique requirements specified, conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace or that had successfully been delivered to the government on a previous contract or purchase order. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerance specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met.
